Finite Element Analysis
As part of the MECH 328 (Finite Element Analysis), I have worked on various projects, from performing first-principles calculations on simple FEA problems to running complex non-linear transient simulations. For the final project of the class, I chose to perform explicit dynamics simulations of a Boeing X-51 Hypersonic Missile collision with a bunker wall made from concrete. Collision speed was assumed as Mach 5.0. Once the initial simulation was performed, a parametric study was conducted to find the optimal thickness of the concrete that reduces the total deformation over impact time.
